Last Sunday I went into Firenze for choir practice. Since it was General Conference, there were no church meetings and I took advantage of the free time to visit a couple museums. They’re free admission on the first Sunday of every month in Florence.
I went to Capelle Medicee at 8:15 am, then to choir, then to Palazzo Pitti around 13:00. I brought my camera and took some photos. I’ll add them here this week, and maybe explain why I took them.
It’s easy to take local things for granted, even when they’re world class like Firenze. I know an older gentleman who, despite living in this vicinity his entire life, has never once gone to see the statue of David. Also I know an older lady who despite living in Italy for about 70 years, has never gone to see the sights in Rome.
Years ago, I remember visiting my friends in Las Vegas (Henderson). They told me the only time they ever went to the strip was when people visited. We went to the buffet at the Rio, it was great. When I lived in SoCal, going to the beach was fairly rare. I grew up near Monument Valley, but I have never gone to see it … ok maybe we went through that area one time with my dad but I don’t remember seeing it. We went to some weird Indian cave and a wacky gift shop.
Anyway, i guess you should figure out what’s near you and go check it out. There’s gotta be something … I mean even in the barren wasteland of New Mexico, you have Roswell — right?
I’ll add the photos this week I will I promise
In the near future I’ll get the illustrations going, don’t whine ok
update: i added one even today alright now go to bed
// update: wordpress is being incompetent, won’t upload even small images. Once again, the flustered-web-designer hat comes out of mothballs. If it keeps being ridiculous, I guess this might not be the place for such a blog … I mean – it won’t even upload ONE image now???
/// update: ok it’s letting me load them one by one- what a ridiculous system. there’s a ton of photos to make up for still no illustrations (all photos taken/edited by me last weekend). i’ll get there, just lemme cook mkay
by the way if anybody wants me to run any italian errands, just contact me (be willing to pay, i’m not paying to run your errands k) (duh)
next i’m gonna make a calendar of natural phenomena in the campagna as far as i’m familiar with it
I’ll load the rest of the photos tomorrow morning – stop whining no one’s even reading this right now bro
G’night
