Yes, the news is complex and it’s hard to know what’s true.
However, one of the few identifiable absolute universal truths left, is the fact that listening to just one genre/slant of news will make you a datsbad.
What is a ‘datsbad’, you ask?
It’s someone who sees one side of the news, accepts its lopsided goofy simplicity wholesale, and finally ends up with a very conveniently neat and tidy clear-cut moral enlightenment package. We can find them pointing at the one-or-two-dimensional thing the news told them, proudly proclaiming “ey, dat’s bad.”
The problem is it’s based on a narrative crafted out of fear, not full-fledged context.
Reality is nuanced and often defies prima fascia assumptions. Datsbads don’t have time for all that. They just want to see something simple, somehow floating overhead – especially if it validates their own whiney difficulties. It should include a couple shallow (““fact-checked””) ‘facts’ to back it up, and a jumbo index finger to point at the holographic blimp while crowing, eyes a-straining.
If you get your news from one source with no filter, or if you get it from mainstream/legacy outlets – I have a headline for you: you’re an NPC. And … datsbad.
The solution is X.
I’m sorry but that’s the best source for reality right now. If you swim anywhere else, across the board it’s about 70% sewage (sometimes 98%). News on X is culled and filtered through all kinds people. Obviously it’s not flawless, nothing is – but even in extreme cases, over time the truth breaks through. If you have any discernment at all, you can become well-informed. Personally, I think it requires a steep initial slog through uncharted venues away from twisted legacy narratives you know and love. This slog is only possible for one who cares to find the actual truth.
Legacy media is only useful as an example of propaganda. Yes, that includes every single television news channel.
I haven’t checked any news for about a month now, and it’s fascinating to talk to people – they all sound like parrots. They all look like bricks in a wall with the same flat mug facing out, held firmly in place by their rigid surroundings.
Well … live on.
In other news I think I’m gonna end up pointing this domain at a tumblr – WordPress makes it shit unless you pay them but there’s no payoff if you do – just tons more work and way less visibility.
Sorry this one’s not about Italy – I’ll probably delete it soon. Plus there’s no drawing/illustration. Ugh
I’ll put a couple pics ok
